Do you know why the Pleiades are called the „Seven Sisters“?

According to an ancient Greek legend, they were seven beautiful maidens, the daughters of the Titan Atlas.

The great hunter Orion pursued them, but Zeus saved them by turning them into stars.

To this day, it seems as though Orion continues to chase them across the sky.

But why do most people see only six stars?

Legend has it that the seventh sister, Merope, hid her face in shame because she had married a mortal.

Thus arose the mystery of the lost seventh star.
